Ontario Bill 193
An Act to Prohibit Door-to-Door Sales of Certain Products
CWQA has been working to communicate our members’ views on the proposed private members bill. We have been able to meet with MPP Yvan Baker who introduced the Ontario Bill 193 and this is an update on our efforts:
• MPP Baker has communicated he is willing to work with us and is looking for direction from our industry
• MPP Baker understands the hardship this will cause to legitimate, trained members versus non-members
• The second reading of the Ontario Bill 193 will occur on June 9th and Kevin will be in attendance
• CWQA will be reviewing our MEP’s (Modular Education Program) Sales course with MPP Baker as he was keenly interested
CWQA encourages our members to contact their local MPP, in regards to Ontario Bill 193 if they haven’t already done so.
As the summer progresses, we will be working with the Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), MPP Baker, Ministry of Government and Consumer Services (MGCS) and other relevant parties on a solution that is protective of the legitimate members and professionals within the water treatment industry.
CWQA is working hard for you and we will continue to keep you updated on Ontario Bill 193 .
Thank you for your support!
